A Day Spa Just for Mum’s and Mum’s To Be & Giveaway

As I walked into the Yummy Mummy Day Spa in Clovelly, Sydney, I instantly felt a feeling of tranquility come over me.

Located inside a house that has been renovated on the inside to be a day spa (not one of those clinical looking day spas you might be used to). It immediately feels warm and inviting. You walk through the door and on your right is the reception area, where you are warmly greeted by one of the girls and are asked to sit down to fill out the usual forms. The cabinet showcases some gorgeous products that they sell for Mum’s and Mum’s-to-be, such as baby blankets, a skincare range specifically for pregnant women, gorgeous nappy bags and the cutest pairs of shoes for the little angel in your life.

I’m introduced to my therapist where I will be experiencing the very popular ‘Yummy Mummy Day Spa Package’. This package includes a one hour Aroma Full Body Massage followed by a one hour Organic Spa Facial. As I get taken into the therapy room, the first thing I notice is how beautifully warm it is. It was a winter’s day, so there was a chill in the air and I was wrapped up in my scarf. long sleeved top and faux fur vest. I get asked to undress and to leave my underwear on and instead of the expected robes you usually get given to wear at day spas, Yummy Mummy Day Spa have beautiful kaftans that you can pop over and feel completely comfortable with. No need to worry about your baby bump being too big to get the robe around, the kaftan is so roomy and so cute on!

The treatment begins with a beautiful foot bath in milky warm water with a peppermint smelling scrub. At that moment, I was able to start to finally relax. Being a Mum of a 2 year old, working, studying, blogging and running a household, I have a million and one things running through my head (which I am sure every Mum can relate to). I was able to just sit back and really enjoy being pampered.

Once the foot bath and scrub is over, I then get asked to lie on the massage table. For all you Mum-To-Be’s, the massage table is fitted out to cater for all those extra lumps and bumps you have while pregnant. Therapists are all qualified in administering massages to pregnant women, which was always a hassle for me to find when I was looking for a pregnancy massage. Many day spas do not cater for pregnancy massages and you usually have to look for someone who specialises in those services, so it’s amazing that there is a day spa to cater for that.

As the massage begins…needless to say, I just let go and let my therapist work her magic hands on me. She checked in with me to ensure the pressure was right, and from then onwards, for the first time in I don’t know how long, I was able to switch my brain off. I was able to stop thinking about what I had to do next. I was able to take care of myself and just let myself be present in the moment. As my hour long massage was coming to an end, my therapist then started to work on my facial.

She asked me what problems I had with my skin. During winter, my skin feels dehydrated, dry and lifeless. She recommended a hydrating facial for me to help bring life back into my skin. I was able to just lie there as someone else took care of my problems for once. The facial was topped off with a soothing head massage.

As my treatment sadly came to an end, I was then led into another room, where I was offered a gorgeous little food platter and a refreshing tea. As I sat down on the couch, I was able to unwind and munch on the goodies and take my time in drinking my tea.
