Children’s Skeleton Costume and Makeup

Our favourite day of the year has arrived! As we were looking for ideas on how to dress up our 2 year old, I got some great inspiration from Carnival Cruise Line’s blog post – Halloween Makeup Edition.

We thought a skeleton was an easy costume for a toddler.

Grab a costume

We got our hands on this costume from Big W for $15. Even though there is a girl and boy version, I grabbed the boy version because the girl version was too cute looking and I wanted Mia to look scary this year.

Quick and easy makeup

My 2 year old is super impatient so I know if I was going to put make up on her, it had to be quick and easy. This skeleton face was super easy and cheap because all you need is black and white face paint. We grabbed our palette of face paint from Big W for $4.

Step 1. – You can use a sponge or brush. Apply white paint to the face, covering the mouth but leaving the eye area clear.

Step 2 – Using the brush or sponge, apply the black paint around the eyes. I suggest asking your little one to close their eyes so you can dab some on their eyelids.

Step 3 – Using a brush, use the black paint and do a small teardrop on top of the centre of the nostrils for the skeleton nose.

Step 4 – Using the brush and black paint, paint small ‘cracks’ on the face. Two on the forehead and two on the cheeks.

Step 5 – Using the brush and black paint, colour their lips black and then you can make a line from the ends of their lips towards their cheeks.

And that’s it! It shouldn’t take long and perfect length of time for an impatient toddler like mine.

Happy Halloween!!!
