15 Gift Ideas for a Pregnant Friend

This blog post was born as a result of a reader asking me for gift ideas for her pregnant friend. Since she doesn’t have any kids of her own, and given that I have gone through two pregnancies, I can absolutely recommend some useful and beautiful gifts to suit all budgets.

Gifts under $20

1. My Little Booky Wooky – $15

My little book wonky

Did you know that a newborn’s vision begins very poor and blurry.? Studies have proven that black and white images register powerfully on a baby’s retina and send the strongest visual signals to the baby’s brain. My Little Booky Wooky is a black and white board book for babies aged 0-6 months. Mums can read to their baby to start building a bond or use the book for tummy time.

2. Tilda & Moo Bib – $15.95

Tilda and Moo Bibs

Every baby needs bibs. And lots of them! They dribble, they vomit and they spew so bibs are a must BUT you need to get the right bib. The usual bibs you see in stores are a waste of money and they don’t soak up the dribble or spew. Tilda & Moo bibs are made with cotton towelling in the back meaning that the dribble or spew won’t wet the clothes. The size of their bib is also large which is fantastic for coverage and keeping baby’s clothes nice and clean.

3. Mama Body Tea – $17.95

Mama body tea

If your pregnant friend plans to breastfeed, then Mama Body Tea makes tea to help with their milk supply. I have been using it for a month now and love drinking their tea and I have found it has helped with my supply and flow of milk.

5. All About Me Baby Book by Baby Made – $29.95

All About Me Baby Book

A baby book is a beautiful way to document a baby from conception up until their first year of life. I love this book for its gender neutral and modern design. Some baby books can look quite, well, babyish. I prefer a book that will remain stylish over the years. It also has clean internal designs where Mum can include photos and document the important aspects of their baby such as their arrival as well as a month by month updates. There is also an envelope at the back of the book to keep any important keepsakes.

6. Love to Dream Swaddle UP – $39,95

Love to Dream Swaddle

While there is always the assumption of swaddling a baby with a muslin wrap, I did this with Mia and found it really annoying. Mia constantly got out of her wrap and I had to re-wrap her at all hours of the night (leaving me with little sleep). Eventually I used the Love to Dream Swaddle UP and I wished I had used it earlier to have saved me time and hassle that I experienced wrapping Mia with a wrap. Now with Maxi, I had him in a swaddle from the moment we left the hospital and life (and sleep) has been so much better.

7. Sleep Sheep on the Go – $49.99

Sleep Sheep on the Go

My daughter had this sheep since she was born, and it was always the perfect way to soother her to sleep. It comes with 4 noises like rain, ocean and heartbeats. My daughter is now 3 years old and still goes to sleep with her sleep sheep. It’s also small enough to take on the go when you’re out and about or on holidays.

8. Milk Snob – $55

Milk Snob

I am totally obsessed with my Milk Snob and I wish I had it with my first because I don’t leave the house without it. The Milk Snob is multipurpose. Mums can use it to cover themselves while breastfeeding and it can be used to cover the baby’s capsule or pram. I use it for both purposes and love how stretchy it is, the various designs it comes in as well as how soft the fabric is.

9. Groegg – $59.95

Groegg

The Groegg is an essential item in any nursery. This will help Mums know what the temperature is in the room and be able to clothe baby accordingly. The Groegg changes colour depending on the temperature and doubles as a nightlight in the nursery. Mum doesn’t have to stress whether bub is too cold or too hot. The Groegg will give them peace of mine like it has with my two kids.

10. Milkbar Feeding Pillow – $69.95

Milkbar Feeding Pillow

This is the best feeding pillow I have come across. I used a different one with my first baby and it was terrible. I had to bend down to feed my baby giving me a sore back as a result. The Milkbar feeding pillow is high and sturdy so that you’re not having to reach down to feed your baby and Mum can feed bub comfortably. I absolutely love my Milkbar and it is a must as a breastfeeding Mum.
